![]() First and foremost, I enjoyed watching this series. It is probably the best pre-screening of the actual Avengers movie. The Avengers animated series starts out excitingly enough with breakouts in 4 of the toughest prisons reserved for super-villains, the Vault, the Raft, the Cube and Big House. The heroes team initially comprises of the Marvel universe superheroes such as Hulk, Giant-Man, Thor, Wasp and of course Iron Man. Sadly, the upcoming 2012 movie Avengers does not feature Wasp or Giant-Man. ![]() Anyway, they are later joined by Capt. America, Black Panther and Hawkeye. Later on, on-off there will also be the Black Widow. 5 of those characters mentioned earlier will be appearing in your big screen soon thanks to Marvel Entertainment. They are Capt. America, Thor, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man (all which had their own movies) and newly introduced Hawkeye and Black Widow. ![]() Back to the series storyline which I will focus on the pilot two-episode. Since the breakout occurred, the super villain of them all considered most dangerous by SHIELD is Graviton, who is the evil master of gravity (hmmm .. reminds me of Magneto the evil magnetic X-men :P ). Anyway, since Graviton is an Omega-level threat, the Hulk is 'asked' to join the effort to stop this super-villain. Hulk is of course eventually pursuaded to join the heroic effort and joins the team permanently in their crusades. ![]() The Avengers team eventually manage to subdue Graviton and captures him in an epic battle that sees the familiar actions potrayed by each superhero e.g. Thor's "For Midgard !!", Hulk's cynism on his strength and Giant-Man aka Hank Pym's enlarge / shrinking and ant-calling ability. The episodes after that feature numerous villains that Marvel fans are familiar with such as Baron Zemo, The Enchantress, Crimson Dynamo, Ultron, The Abomination .. just to name a few. Be warned, most of the episodes are also laced with humour of some form or another. To me, it balances the viewability for both kids and young adults alike. ![]() Besides the usual villains, there is also hints of next season's villains and storyline such as the Kree / Skrull war against each other and the invasion of Earth. For those familiar with the comic scene, there was an epic blockbuster Marvel saga on the Skrull's invasion. So my advise is do stay tuned for Season 2 (once you finish season 1). ![]() The whole series makes me feel I am watching a prelude to the big-budget Hollywood movie that will be opening this year. Honestly, after watching this cartoon series, I just can't wait for the movie this year ... :P ![]() References :
